Are electric clippers used on dogs before or after the bath?
I am considering learning how to groom my dogs. I was just wondering when are the dogs clipped? Before or after they are shampooed and dried? And, does anyone have any suggestions for a very detailed source on how to groom dogs? I have poodle mixes. I was looking around on YouTube and found some helpful videos.
Depends on how dirty the dog is and what sort of hair cut you’re wanting. If you just completely shave them down, it’s easier to “rough in” the hair cut by shaving off most of the hair before the bath, to cut down on drying time. Then when clean and dry, finish the haircut. If it’s mostly just trimming and shaping, fine detailing, then bath first and brush out well.
